You may be wise to cross Manhattan off your list just due to the sheer inconvenience and stress of getting there on surgery day and going home, then returning for rhinoplasty follow-ups, bandage and splint removal. Moving around Manhattan, finding parking and riding crowded elevators (or traversing a building lobby/valet parking area in bandages) is not fun–and it can be stressful. You want to limit your stress to speed your recovery after rhinoplasty.
The other problem with Manhattan: high rhinoplasty cost. Beyond the logistical concerns noted above, you will pay more (for anything and everything) in Manhattan. Yes, there are some great surgeons in NYC, but they have to support some very expensive real estate and practice overhead costs. While costs may be higher, more importantly–the time spent with you may be shorter, due to the number of patients that must be seen per day. And you need time to be sure that risks are explained to you very clearly and that you understand completely. You need time to ask questions and get detailed answers. That’s a personal decision you must make, considering all the pros and cons. If there’s one populated area you might consider foregoing, however, it may be NYC.
